Lakehead University, Orillia – Sophia Varga is the Athlete of the Month for January! Sophia is the equestrian teams only first year student. Along with her commitment to school she decided to take on the equestrian team where regular lessons are mandatory and there are 7 shows over the course of the season. Sophia has brought to the team a positive attitude every since her tryout and was faced with the challenge of over coming her nerves as this is her very first time showing. Sophia has received 3rd, 7th and 8th place ribbons this season so far, with her over fences ride at the University of Guelph show at Old Orchard Farm being her best ride yet, showing how her confidence has grown immensely with every show and her hard work is paying off.
