"I'm so proud of all of these girls for their hard work and the extremely early mornings and long days are not easy" - Malorie Harris, Team Captain

Malorie has been with the Lakehead Orillia Equestrian team for 4 years, with 2 of those year being captain of the team. This season the team has four riders who compete at different levels: Tori Beauchemin (Intermediate Division - 2'6" jumps), Jill Widdifield (Novice Division - 2'3" jumps), Sophia Varga (Entry Division - 18" jumps), and Malorie Harris (Open Division -3'0" jumps). The team as a whole competes on the Ontario Collegiate Equestrian Association (OCEA), which includes a circuit of over 19 different colleges and universities across Ontario. Lakehead Orillia competes on the Central Zone circuit againsts other schools located in Central Ontario. The competitions consist of a catch riding style circuit where the teams get to the show in the morning and have to draw two horses they have never ridden before. Each rider then competes in an over fences class (jumping) at different division heights and under saddle class (flat). The team practices at Rushmount Equine Sports Ltd in Severn under their coach Heidi Mueller-McCahon.

This season the team will be competing in 7 different competitions hosted by Laurentian University/Cambrian College, Georgian College, York University, University of Guelph, Ryerson University, and the University of Toronto. This year, on Sunday, March 3, 2019, Lakehead Orillia will be hosting its first ever competition. The team has competed in 3 competitions this season and have come out victorious at all of them.
