Golf Team Wraps Up 2021 Season in Northern Ontario

The Orillia Thunderwolves Varsity Golf Team attended the OCAA Golf Championships in Sault Ste. Marie, ON from September 19th to 22nd, 2021.

The championship was hosted by Sault College at Crimson Ridge Golf Course and included student-athletes from 10 schools across the province. The course showcased the spectacular views and picturesque beauty of the Northern Ontario landscape. In true Northern Ontario fashion, weather was a competitor on the course, forcing golfers to weather the rain and low temperatures of the changing seasons.

The three day tournament wrapped up on Wednesday and closed the Thunderwolves 2021 Golf season. The team was our first set of student-athletes to represent Lakehead Orillia since early 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They had a great first season back and have represented Lakehead Orillia well in the OCAA.

The Thunderwolves finished this year's Championships with a three-day team total of 1134 , finishing 4th in Division II.

First year golfers Jackson Beck and Noah Collins both shot their season best (80) at the tournament and finished with combined three day scores of 253 and 254, respectively. Josh Brown finished with a score of 306, Followed by Ronnie Money with 322, and Ethan Sleep with a total score of 326.

Fittingly, the tournament ran through National Coaches Week, which takes place from September 18th to 26th 2021. We would like to recognize and thank head coach Terry Smith for his dedication to our team and golf program this season, and over the past 5 years. His expertise and commitment to our student-athletes has made him an invaluable asset to the Thunderwolves.

Lakehead Orillia is extremely proud of the accomplishments of our Varsity Golf team in the 2021/22 season!
