On Thursday, November 1st, Georgian College Orillia and Lakehead University Orillia hosted this years OCR Fall Faceoff at Rotary Place arena. This two day tournament brought together womens hockey teams from many colleges across Ontario.
The Women's Hockey Tournament kicked off Thursday morning, where the Lakehead Thunderwolves played against the St. Lawrence Vikings. The Thunderwolves came out victorious with a 5-0 win; a shut out for Jordan Bolzon (#31), two goals for Katerina Amos (#6), and one each for Tiffany White (#14), Katelyn Anderson (#8) and Kylee Vachon (#12). Game two, the Thunderwolves fell 3-1 versus the La Cité Coyotes, where Mikayla Rae (#19) scored her first goal of the day. In the quarter finals on Thursday afternoon, the Thunderwolves took on the Huskies from George Brown College. Once again, our Thunderwolves were victorious with another 3-0 shutout for Bolzon, and a hattrick for Melani Moylan (#22), with assists from Rae and White. This victory landed the Thunderwolves a spot in the semi-finals against the Fanshawe Falcons. Our Thunderwolves played hard but unfortunately were not able to come out on top.
