Bell Let's Talk Frost Cup 2019

Bell Let's Talk Frost Cup 2019
On Thursday, January 17th the Women's Extramural Hockey team played the Georgian Orillia Grizzlies in the fifth annual Frost Cup at Rotary Place Arena in Orillia. This game kick starts the Winter Semester for both schools by bringing students together to cheer on their classmates.

With the Thunderwolves last Frost Cup victory being in 2017, there were high hopes this year as it was deemed the Thunderwolves year to bring the cup back. The puck dropped at 7:30 pm with both teams gearing to go. Fans were kept at the edge of their seats as the first, second, and third period flew by - many close calls, but no goals. The game continued into a 5 minute overtime, and then to a shootout. In the end, Thunderwolves came out victorious with Tiffany White scoring the first goal of shootouts and team captain Mikayla Rae scoring the second. The final score was 1-0 for the Lakehead Orillia Thunderwolves. Great job to our Women's Extramural Hockey team!

This year, Frost Cup launched Bell Let's Talk Day by providing students and spectators with information about local and on campus mental health services, along with Bell Let's Talk swag and giveaways! Bell Lets Talk is an advertising campaign created by Bell Canada to end the stigma around mental health by promoting mental health education, having positive conversations and being kind to each other. Thundersticks, inflatable sticks that are popular among the students and used to make noise while cheering for the teams, were provided and given out to the students as they arrived to the arena. Bell Let's Talk Day took place on Wednesday, January 30, 2019.
