On Thursday, October 31st and Friday, November 1st Lakehead University Orillia and Georgain College Orillia together hosted the annual OCR Hockey Fall Faceoff Tournament at Rotary Place Arena in Orillia. Six post secondary schools traveled from across Ontario on Thursday for the Women's tournament, and ten team on Friday for the Men's tournament. The Thunderwolves gave it their all as they fought for the championship title but came up short on both days.

The Lakehead Orillia Women's Hockey Team started off the day with a rocky start as they loss their early morning game against the La Cite Coyotes with a score of 3-1. But their loss only brought more ambition as they headed into their second game at 10:00 am against Fleming College. All the hustling and bustling out on the ice paid off as the game finished with a score of 2-1 for the Thunderwolves. The girls were able to rest up before hitting the ice again for the quarterfinals early afternoon against their local rival, the Georgian Grizzlies. Right off the bat the Thunderwolves were able to land a goal and kept the score 1-0 until the third period when Georgain snuck in a goal. The final buzzer rang and the game went into a shootout where Carmen Underwood, an upper year student and long time Lakehead athlete, scored the winning goal. The Thunderwolves were moving on to the semi-finals. This time the girls played the Fanshawe Falcons and, although they gave it their best, didn't make it out on top. Great effort Thunderwolves!
