Thunderwolves Ice Field
We are pleased to announce the addition of a 40' x 80' natural outdoor ice rink on campus for the winter months. We look forward to welcoming students, staff, and faculty to make use of this rink for recreation and wellness opportunities in the near future.
Skates are not available for borrowing or rental. All skaters must bring their own skates as well as any personal equipment they wish to use (helmets, shin guards, sticks, pucks, etc.). Changerooms and lockers are available in the Simcoe Hall washrooms for storage of skates and other personal belongings for day use only.

Our on-campus Ice Rink is closed for the year, we look forward to seeing everyone back out there next winter!

Guidelines:
This is an unsupervised and unlit natural rink. Users must use it at their own risk and follow guidelines for the safety and maintenance of the rink and skaters. The Department of Athletics and Recreation reserves the right to refuse service to anyone found in violation of these guidelines. Lakehead Athletics will not be held liable for lost or stolen items.
- Skating conditions are weather permitting, please respect closures
- It is recommended that all skaters wear CSA-approved helmets
- Excessive speed, dangerous skating/games, contact & rough play are not permitted
- Pucks must stay on the ice (no slap shots permitted)
- Boots and shoes are not permitted. All persons on the ice must wear skates
- Chairs, sleds, strollers, pylons, and other obstructions are not permitted on the ice surface unless approved by the Department of Athletics. Skate Aides, stabilizers, and walkers are permitted, however, they will not be provided
- Food and drinks are not permitted on the ice surface
- Please refrain from throwing snow or ice
- Smoking, alcohol, and drug consumption are not permitted on or around the ice surface
- Please report all accidents, injuries, incidents of misconduct, and hazards to the Athletics staff
