City of Orillia FUN Pass for Students

2022-23 FUN Pass Update:

All Lakehead Orillia students are eligible for a Fun Pass that is valid from September 2022 - August 2023. This membership includes access to the fitness centre and all drop-in programs offered at the Orillia Recreation Centre. Information on drop-in programs can be found at orillia.ca/active.

The ORC is located just off of Orillia’s downtown core, at 255 West Street South. The recreation centre has previously been open to the public, and beginning this fall, the City of Orillia is welcoming current Thunderwolves to the stunning new facility, at no additional cost.

Activation of membership is required prior to first use. Please visit the reception desk upon arrival at the ORC to receive your membership card. 

Please be advised that for the sole purpose of issuing student memberships, Lakehead has confidentially provided the City of Orillia with names and student identification numbers for eligible students.


What is included?

  • Fitness Centre

  • Drop-In Recreational Programs are offered at the ORC. See offerings here.

  • Access to all facility amenities, including indoor walking/jogging track, gymnasium & aquatic centre.

 Please Note: Programs that require registration are NOT included in the student membership. Students can register for these programs at their own expense.


 Getting to the ORC

  • By Bus: Students can access public transportation with their student bus pass (provided through LUSU). Take the West Ridge bus route from campus to the Downtown Terminal. Switch buses from the terminal and jump on the South route to take you to the ORC. Download the Pingstreet mobile app for real-time GPS-based information for all Orillia Transit routes.

  • By Car: Located at 255 West Street S, the ORC is an 8-minute drive from campus. Students with access to personal transportation are able to park for free in the ORC lot.


Hours of Operation

    The ORC is open 7 days a week. Hours of operation are as follows. Please note that facility hours are subject to change for holidays.

    Monday - Thursday: 5:30 AM - 9:00 PM

    Friday: 5:30 AM - 8:30 PM

    Saturday & Sunday: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM


FAQ

How do I activate my membership? 

Please bring your Lakehead Student ID Card along with a valid photo identification to the ORC and check in at the front desk to get your membership card.

You will need to bring your membership card with you each time you access the facility.

When is my membership valid?

All fee-paying students have access to the fitness membership from September 2022 to August 2023.

 

How can I access a family membership?

Students who wish to upgrade their Lakehead Student Membership to a Family Membership are eligible to do so. This upgrade must be completed in person at the time of signing up for the Lakehead Student Membership. The cost of the Lakehead Student Membership will be deducted from the cost of a family membership for the same duration. Students will be required to pay for the remaining balance of $417.72 + HST for a 6-month family membership for residents of the City of Orillia or $522.15 + HST for a 6-month family membership for non-residents. Fees will be prorated based on the date of enrollment. Proof of address is required when signing up for a family membership.

Family memberships are valid for a maximum of 2 adults and 3 children living at the same address. A child is anyone under the age of 18.

If I already have a fitness membership with the City of Orillia, how do I get reimbursed? 

Email recreation@orillia.ca with your full name and address. Staff will calculate a prorated refund based on the start date of your Lakehead Student Membership and issue a refund back to your original method of payment.

What is the vaccination policy in the facility?

Effective March 1, 2022, proof of vaccination is no longer required at the City of Orillia recreation facilities. Masking and screening requirements have also been removed, in alignment with provincial guidelines.

Are change rooms and lockers available?

Both wet and dry change rooms and showers are available and open for use. Day-use lockers are also available for use. Students are asked to please bring their own lock with them to lock their belongings while using the facility.
