Fair Play Award for Extramural Basketball Team

Fair Play Award for Extramural Basketball Team
On Friday, March 6, the Men's and Women's Extramural Basketball teams travelled to Brantford, Ontario to participate in the final OCR Basketball tournament of the year at Laurier Brantford.

This was the second and final tournament of the year for the Men's team. They started off the day against the eventual tournament Champions, Humber North. The Thunderwolves put up a good fight and had the game within a few points in the last couple minutes of the game. However, in an attempt to slow time, the Thunderwolves fouled to put the Hawks on the line. Solid free throw shooting from the Hawks saw them extend their lead and win the game by a score of 56-47.

They then faced Seneca Newnham. In an extremely exciting game led by scoring from Connor Garrison and Kurtis Page, the Thunderwolves secured the victory. Some big buckets late in the game by Peter Scholtes and calm and collective free throw shooting by Kurtis Page allowed the Thunderwolves to hold onto the lead. In the end, the Thunderwolves defeated Seneca Newnham by a score of 68-64.

The Thunderwolves played hosts Laurier Brantford in their final game of the day. Despite a short bench, the Thunderwolves battled hard against the Golden Hawks. They went into half up by a point. In the end, The Golden Hawks proved too much to handle and were able to pull away from the Thunderwolves defeating them by a score of 63-51.

It was a tremendous day for the Thunderwolves who battled and competed in every game. They were rewarded for their sportsmanship on the court with the Fair Play Award. This team also received the Fair Play Award at the Mohawk College Tournament as well. We are very proud of the performance of this team this year!
